Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood

Pros:
•I really enjoy movies about old Hollywood. I’ll give Tarantino this much, he really nailed down the look and feel of that time period. It’s a very well made movie.
•Outstanding performances, especially Brad Pitt. I could’ve easily watched a whole movie just about his character. Not that I didn’t enjoy Leonardo DiCaprio in this (he was great as well), I just found Pitt’s character far more interesting.
•Loved the soundtrack.
•The last 15-20 minutes are insane. I mean that in a good way. Classic Tarantino.

Cons:
•Way too damn long. Several scenes could’ve easily been trimmed down or removed all together.
•The first act was pretty weak. There were parts I enjoyed but I was struggling to figure out where he was going with all this.
•The story wasn’t nearly as engaging for me as say The Hateful Eight or Inglorious Basterds (probably my favorite Tarantino movie).
•It’s worth seeing but don’t rush to the theater or anything.

My Rating: 7/10

The Lion King (2019)

Pros:
•The animation is absolutely gorgeous. It all looks so real I felt like I was watching one of those nature documentaries. Major props to the animation department.
•Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner were hilarious as Timon and Pumbaa. Honestly they were the only actors who were even trying.

Cons:
•Lifeless. That’s the best word to sum up this movie. It was just going through the motions with as little effort possible. I felt nothing watching this. The original is in my top 5 favorite Disney movies. To this day I cry every time I watch Mufasa’s death scene. In this new one I didn’t even shed a tear.
•This version of Be Prepared.... WHAT THE FUCK!!!
•Aside from scenes being extended and some slight changes to the dialogue, this really is a shot for shot remake. You’re honestly better off staying some watching the original. The only reason I would suggest seeing this in theaters is the animators did such an amazing job and their work deserves to be scene on the big screen. I would’ve given the movie a MUCH lower rating if it weren’t for them.
•I’m not mad about this or anything. Just disappointed.
•What’s sad is that for some kids this will be their first introduction to The Lion King. Those parents have failed miserably if that’s the case.

My Rating: 6/10

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Pros:
•Tom Holland continues to be my favorite Spider-Man. That was perfect casting on Marvel’s part. I’m loving his interpretation of the character.
•I also thought he and Zendaya are so sweet together.
•The second half was really action packed and well done.
•Looks great in IMAX.
•The end credit scenes (especially the mid credits one) is worth the price of admission alone. HOLY SHIT!!!!

Cons:
•As much as I loved the second half of the movie, I really didn’t care for the first half. It downright annoyed me at times. The humor didn’t work for the most part and it bored me to tears sitting there watching some teenagers summer vacation. I get they needed to set things up but still. Move it along already!!
•Jake Gyllenhaal is a good actor but this was definitely one of his weaker roles.
•The twist... seriously?? I mean it wasn’t quite Iron Man 3 level bad but it was close.
•I would definitely place this on the lower end of the Marvel movies. Not that I didn’t like the movie. I did. But would I watch it over and over again? Probably not.

My Rating: 7.5/10
